Revolve24, the 24-hour endurance cycling challenge taking place at Brands Hatch on 10-11 September, is to host a British Cycling One Day Omnium. Taking place on the world-class GP and Indy circuits, the event is a fun and competitive way to end the road-racing season.

Revolve24 offers the perfect combination of smooth asphalt, a supportive festival atmosphere, designated pit garages, along with the thrill of riding on a world-class motor circuit. The 24hr event is open to soloists, duos and teams of four, six and eight riders. The 6-hour relay returns, and new for 2016 is the track-based 12hr "Dusk 'til Dawn' challenge.

In 2015 the fastest teams cycled up to 833km (518 miles) and climbed 13.6km (44,500 feet) in 24 hours - just short of ascending both Everest and Mount Kilimanjaro in a day.

The new Omnium competition will take place on Saturday 10 September, and consists of three events:

  • Individual Time Trial: 1 Lap of the GP circuit (3.8 km per lap)
  • Criterium: 24 Minutes plus 2 Laps around the Indy Circuit (1.19 km per lap)
  • Road Race: 2 Hours Road Race on the GP circuit

Men's and women's events will be held, with the Women's Omnium staged in association with London Women's Racing.

Beth Hodge, co-founder and secretary of London Women's Racing, says: "The one day Omnium is a unique challenge for those who race, or want to give racing a go, on a circuit not often seen in the calendar. It's the final event of our summer racing league and this format could really shake up the end of season points table!

"Alongside this, we are looking forward to seeing racers from outside of our league come and participate in a competitive field."

Beth added: "Interest in women's racing at all levels has exploded in recent years and it is becoming more accessible, collaborative and organised than ever before. At our LWR race training day in February this year, we started with forty places, but had to keep extending the offer to accommodate over 100 women who wanted to learn racing skills from the best coaches and pro riders. We look forward to the next one."

Revolve24 has launched a custom-built Race App in partnership with and powered by Map My Tracks. The app, which is now available for free download on the App Store and Google Play, will allow people to track the progress of themselves and their teammates in real time on race day.

Huw Bunn, Revolve24 organiser, said: "24 hour cycling track events, such as Le Mans and Rad am Ring at Nurburgring, are well-established on the continent and have a wonderful festival atmosphere for both riders and supporters - that's what we are bringing to Brands Hatch in September.

"We're offering the ultimate endurance challenge, plus a range of events to suit all types of riders. The Omnium brings together riders that have been competing against each other all season, as well as new faces who want to give racing a try for the first time."

The Omnium is open to Senior and Junior Men (Category 2, 3, 4 Licence Holders) and Senior and Junior Women (all categories). Participants can be a full BC member and licence holder, or take out a day licence.

As well as earning British Cycling points, prizes will be on offer in both Men's and Women's events. While it is an individual event, a team prize for teams of four will be awarded, subject to a minimum of 8 teams in each respective event. Individuals should enter first and then contact Revolve24 to indicate they wish to enter in a team (with the names of other riders).

Omnium entry is priced at £45 per person. A 10% Early Bird Discount is available until 31 June by using the code "Omnium10".

There is also a 15% discount on 24hr, 12hr and 6hr entries available until 24 July using the code "LETOUR15".
