UK sportive organiser GST Team Limited, trading as Kilo To Go, has gone into liquidation with all seven of the company's remaining 2016 sportives cancelled.

A note posted yesterday (April 12) on the Kilo To Go website reads: "It is with deep regret that GST Team Limited has now ceased to trade. More information will be made available in due course. In the meantime, please contact [email protected]"

Some of KTG's popular sportives included The Cornwall Tour, Tour of the Peak and the Cheshire Cat. News of the company's closure now leaves potentially thousands of riders who have already paid for their entry place out of pocket.

Sportive.com contacted IPD earlier today and received the following reply:

"I would confirm that on 12 April 2016, GST Team Limited (trading as "Kilo To Go") ceased trading due to the company being insolvent.

This firm (IPD) has been instructed to assist the director with placing the company into voluntary liquidation. A letter will be sent to all riders who have booked places on events previously being organised by GST Team Limited providing further information, within the next 7 days."

IPD also issued the following advice to riders who have signed up to KTG sportives:

"1. All events previously advertised as being organised by GST Team Limited are cancelled with immediate effect and will not take place. Specifically:

  • Cornwall Tor - Sun 1 May 2016
  • Tour of the Peak - Sun 15 May 2016
  • Motion in Mercia - Sun 29 May 2016
  • Cheshire Cat - Sun 19 June 2016
  • Flatout in the Fens - Sun 3 July 2016
  • Shropshire Mynd - Sun 18 September 2016
  • The Rut - Sun 2 October 2016

2. Riders who have booked a place and paid an entrance fee in advance cannot (under current insolvency legislation) be refunded for that entrance fee by the company due to it being insolvent.

3. If a rider has paid an entrance fee by credit card, they should in the first instance contact their credit card provider to see if that provider will consider a claim for a refund of the fee paid.

4. In all other instances where a rider has paid a fee other than by credit card or cannot claim a refund from a credit card provider, the rider will have an unsecured claim against GST Team Limited for the fee paid. Further details on how to make a claim will be in the letter to be sent."

Given the large numbers of cyclists likely to be affected, IPD have requested that riders make contact via email or written correspondence rather than by telephone in order to ensure queries are handled efficiently. The firm hope to be able to reply to all correspondence within two working days of receipt.

IPD will also update the KTG website, www.kilotogo.com with further developments and ask that riders check there before making contact.

IPD's email address for contact is [email protected].
