Winnat's Pass Killer Mile Challenge

Set amid the natural beauty of the Peak's moors and dales, rivers and caverns, the Tour of the Peak is an incredible challenge - and this year's edition features the Winnat's Pass Killer Mile Challenge!

A full road closure of Winnats Pass will be in force, so there will be no traffic as you climb up through the incredible limestone cleft of the pass. This year the organisers Kilo To Go have upped the ante by declaring the segment a Killer Mile Climb: all those that complete the climb without putting a foot down will receive a specially designed medal.

Improved routes and parking aplenty

In 2014, KTG moved the event HQ to Bakewell in order to provide on-site parking for 2,500 vehicles. Parking so many cars in the National Park is difficult so the showground offers ample parking whilst also providing a short route straight to Winnat's Pass.

Alongside the new HQ, KTG have also tweaked the sportive routes over the years to offer an enhanced experience for all participants. In 2014 the routes were revamped to make the last 10 miles a thoroughly enjoyable downhill spin before reaching Bakewell. In 2015 additional feed stations were introduced along the route, while for 2016 the route has changed slightly to remove some of the climbing before you get to Winnat's.

There are now four feed stations on the Ultra route and two on the Chapeau route, provisioned with tasty sandwiches and cakes from Chatwin's family bakers, plus plenty of sports nutrition from HIGH5.

Riders who enter at least 8 weeks before the event will receive a free HIGH5 water bottle filled with various sports nutrition (worth over £10) that includes a recovery drink - perfect for immediate use at the finish line!

Group discounts

There's strength in numbers, and if you want to tackle this challenge with some friends then the organisers have made it easy to enter as a group. Simply create a group when you book, then share your personalised E-Invite with your friends via text, email or social media. The more friends joining your group using your E-Invite link, the greater your refund.
