Rated as one of the toughest sportives close to London, the Chiltern 100 returns on Sunday 15 May this year with a handful of early bird entries still available.

Two routes are on offer of 76 and 110 miles, with either option sure to test riders as they take on some of the toughest climbs in the Home Counties. The course passes through Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire with the promise of rolling views of countryside to distract from the effort.

Originally founded by local club Verulam CC, the Chiltern 100 is now run by Human Race (the people behind the Dragon Ride among other events) but still delivered in partnership with the club, and many members are expected to be taking part. The sportive includes a fully stocked event village, free parking, ample motorcycle marshals and frequent feed stations alongside maintaining a club-like atmosphere and camaraderie.

Nick Rusling CEO of Human Race Events said "Taking on 21 hills is a big ask, but we are sure thousands of riders will once again be up to the challenge. We are delighted to be working alongside VCC, the club who started this esteemed event, to bring the Chiltern 100 back for a ninth year."

The event is part of the Human Race Sportive Series which also includes the London Cycle Sportive, Dragon Ride, Lionheart and L'Etape London with multi-event packages available for those who want to do several rides throughout the year. Hundreds have already entered into the Chiltern 100 with entries expected to once again reach capacity.

Places are available on a first come, first served basis through humanrace.co.uk/cycling. Enter by 31 January to avail of the early bird offer.
