Juan Jose Cobo has signed with Spanish team Movistar as co-leader alongside his fellow countryman Alejandro Valverde. Cobo, who was a surprise winner of the Vuelta a Espana in 2011 but was left without a team following the disbandment of Geox in October.

Cobo and Valverde join the team that once housed Miguel Indurain and Pedro Delgado, who have 10 grand tour victories to their name including six Tours de France.

Cobo previously rode for Movistar, the richest of the Spanish cycling teams in 2010 but was a major disappointment. It is expected that Cobo will again be aimed at the Vuelta and will not be the team's main hope in the Tour de France.

Cobo can be backed at 100/1 with BlueSQ or Sportingbet to win the 2012 Tour de France.
