LONDON, UK - Chris Froome will publish his autobiography, titled 'The Climb', on June 5, 2014. The Tour de France winner has written it in conjunction with David Walsh, the famous Sunday Times cycling and sports writer who has been so dogged in his uncovering of doping in the pro peloton.

Froome started his publicity for the book with an interview with David Walsh in front of an invited audience last night at the Rapha Cycling Club in Soho, London. Although the contents of the interview are embargoed it is clear that Walsh has done a good job digging into Froome's feelings and frustrations, especially around the Vuelta and Tour de France races where he rode in support of Bradley Wiggins. Froome, who comes across as reserved, intelligent and considered, clearly believes that he could have three Grand Tours to his name rather than one, had he been allowed to ride his own races. The details of how he felt the races played out will be fascinating to read, both for cycling fans and anyone interested in how a pro sports team is run.

The Penguin-published autobiography will look at his childhood in Kenya and South Africa, his training with David Kinjah, his move to Europe with Barloworld and then on to Team Sky for the 2010 season, a promotion which took him to the very top of his profession. There will be a considerable section on his Tour de France victory last summer.

Froome is the hot favourite for a second victory this summer at a best price of Evens (bet £10 to make £10 profit). He confirmed that his training has gone well and that he will be in Tenerife practising his climbing for the next two weeks.
